Inaugural General Meeting

Founding members gathered to establish the foundational procedures for the first democratic election and formally nominated candidates for the Executive Committee.

20 October 2025

First Democratic Election

A secure online secret ballot was conducted to elect the inaugural leadership, ensuring fairness and integrity.

1 November 2025

Constitution of the Executive Committee

The inaugural Executive Committee, led by Mogomotsi B. Ollyn, officially assumed office, vested with the full authority to manage the affairs of the Association.

Constitution Highlights

Identity & Headquarters (Articles 1 & 3)

The organization is officially known as the "Professional Association of Designers in Botswana" (abbreviated as PAD).

The headquarters of the Association is located at Plot 4475, Block 205/4, Gaborone.

Objectives (Article 4)

The primary objectives of the Association are to:

  • Network: Provide a platform for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and skill development among designers.
  • Advocate: Promote the design profession, highlighting its role in innovation, economic development, and cultural expression.
  • Standardize: Establish and uphold professional standards and ethics within the design industry.
  • Educate: Facilitate continuing professional development (CPD) training for designers.
  • Partner: Foster partnerships with educational institutions and government agencies to support design education.
  • Represent: Serve as a voice for designers, representing their interests to government bodies and regulatory agencies.

Membership Eligibility (Article 5)

Membership is open to individuals who hold a recognized qualification in a design field. This includes, but is not limited to, certificates, diplomas, or degrees in:

  • Design and Technology
  • Industrial Design
  • Engineering Design
  • Interior Design
  • Graphic Design
  • Service Design

Note: Individuals subject to UN Security Council sanctions do not qualify for membership.

Governance

Supreme Authority: The supreme authority of the Association is vested in the General Meeting of the members. An Annual General Meeting (AGM) is held in May of every year.

Dissolution: The Association shall not be dissolved except by a resolution passed at a General Meeting with the consent of at least two-thirds (2/3) of the voting members.
